FRESH OR FROZEN FRUITS!
I make a lot of smoothies. It is like a ritual in my house. So, I keep plenty of frozen fruits in my freezer. But for this recipe, I have used a mix of frozen and fresh fruits.
Fresh mangoes and pineapples that were pre-chopped and froze; and fresh banana and papaya. If using frozen fruits, skip the ice.
If you opt to use fresh fruits then chose – a ripe banana, ripe papaya, and mango with yellow skin, and a heavy yet firm pineapple that has a sweet smell. Avoid pineapple that smells sour. Plus, add lots of ice.
Money saving tip – When fresh fruits are in season, I wash, peel and pre-chop them. Store in Ziploc bags and store away. This way I always have fruits on hand for my smoothies.
