Homemade Veggie Pizza recipe made-from-scratch using fresh veggies, low fat shredded cheese and homemade pizza sauce. So filing and tastes d-licious!
Who doesn’t love pizza? If I ask my kids what will they have for lunch/dinner – they will scream in unison – “PIZZA!” If calories didn’t count, I could allow them to eat HOMEMADE pizza all day. Yes, you heard me right, it’s homemade Veggie Pizza recipe – made-from-scratch using fresh ingredients.
This is my go-to-easy-pizza recipe and I make it regularly. I combine it with my homemade pizza sauce, fresh veggies, low fat shredded cheese and it tastes so delicious!
Why homemade when you can buy everything from the store ? Well, to start with, I control what goes in my Veggie Pizza recipe. Secondly, there are no preservatives or un-pronounced ingredients that are added and the best part is I can customize the recipe to my liking. Now onto the recipe!
A little details about this pizza –
- ✔dough preparation isn’t very hard.
- ✔I always use whole wheat flour for my pizza crust because it is rich in fiber and protein. Follow the step by step guide below to make your very own homemade pizza dough.
- ✔ Store bought pizza base can be used for this recipe.
I have used homemade pizza sauce, but store bought chunky sauce will work just fine. Two different types of cheeses were added to this recipe – I have used low fat mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. Feel free to use cheese of your liking.
Regarding the toppings – choices are endless. Since this recipe bakes two pizzas – I have baked one with olives and one without olives. Bake @400 degree F for 20 – 30 minutes or until crust is golden.
I have baked my pizza for 20 minutes and for the last 6-7 minutes – I have broiled the pizza. This way the pizza edges got more browned, crispy and the cheese was all bubbly and melted.
Taste great when fresh out of the oven. Makes a great Sunday dinner. If you happen to make this pizza then share your yum pictures with me @Facebook or drop me a line below! Would love to see your creation!
Cheers!

Whole wheat flour is from Indian grocery? Which brand u use?
Thanks for stopping by Jyoti! I have used Swad whole wheat flour for this recipe.
Your whole wheat flour, doesn’t look whole wheat. It’s too white. Do you use the same flour for chapathi also?
Yes, I use the same flour to make chapatis. It’s the lightning issue that makes it look bright. 🙂 If you look closely – the kneaded dough in the bowl will give you the correct picture!
Hey Ruchi ..nice recipes..just wanted to know which brand yeast you use..
Thanks Payal!! I use fleischmann’s dry active yeast for baking.
How to broil the pizza
Thanks for stopping by Moulya! Broiling means heat from above and the default temperature is between 500 – 550 degree F (260 degree C).
Can i use instant yeast?
Yes, you can use instant yeast for this recipe. Instant yeast and dry active yeast are not the same. Unlike active dry yeast, instant yeast doesn’t have to be proofed; it can be added straight to the dry ingredients. Result will be the same. Use 2 teaspoon of Instant yeast for this recipe.
Beautiful pics and very well explained. Wanted to know if the dough could be knead in the food processor?
Thanks
Thanks Savitha!! Yes you can knead the dough in a food processor.
Can i make the crust in advance n keep in fridge/freezer
Thanks for stopping by KM. Bake the crust for 10 minutes and then store.
Thanks for wonderful pizza recepie. Is there is any alternative for Oven? I have recently changed my domicile so yet settling down kitchen appliances.
Thanks for stopping by Megha. You can bake this pizza on a cooktop. Heat a heavy bottom tawa/griddle. Transfer pizza onto the hot griddle, maintain a medium low heat, cover and let the cheese melt. Once cheese is all gooey and soft, increase the heat to medium and cook the base until it is crisp and brown. Please keep a watchful eye on the pizza do not leave it unattended, the base may get burned or overcooked. Hope that helps!
Hi Ruchi, How will the crust be if I use a microwave to bake it? Any idea on the temperature and duration?
Mega, bake the pizza in microwave convection mode @200 degree F for 20 – 30 minutes – it will turn out crusty. Please refer to your microwave instruction manual for more details.
Hey Ruchi.
I tried your recipe few times, but the bread remains soft, and is not fluffy enough.
Please suggest if any adjustments required. I followed your recipe point to point with exact measurements.
Mega, what do you mean by ‘bread’. Is it the base or the edges?
Hi Ruchi. Its the base.
Mega, I would suggest baking the base first before applying the sauce on top.
Bake the pizza base for 10-15 minutes and remove from oven. Follow rest of the recipe after that.

Hi Ruchi, Instead of whole wheat if I use flour(maida only) what should be the quantity? And for one pizza quantity would be half?
The answer to both your questions is a YES!
You can use Maida as a substitute.
And for one pizza the quantity will be reduced to half. Reduce the ‘CHANGE SERVING SIZE’ at the bottom of the ingredient list and it will recalculate the recipe for you.
Happy Baking!!
What do u mean by broiling n it can be done in microwave(connvection mode)
Tia
Monika, broiling means a temperature of 550 degree F (290 degree C). Most microwave oven have a broil setting. Please refer to your instruction manual for more details.
