Happy Lohri, Makar Sankranti and Happy Pongal to all!! 

Call it Lohri (13th Jan)Makar Sankranti (14th Jan) or Pongalits the harvest festival and conveys the same message — bond of brotherhood and spirit of oneness should prevail despite all odds. Til and jaggery are an essential part of these festivals. These two provide warmth and energy to the body and by exchanging them between friends and family it symbolizes that sweetness prevails in one’s life.

This festival is celebrated across the country as the harvest festival under different names like Pongal– in Tamil Nadu, Bihu in Assam, Bhogi in Andhra pradesh and Sankranti in Karnataka, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. In other words Makar Sankranti is celebrated (14th January) when sun travels from southern hemisphere to northern hemisphere; dakshinayan to Uttarayan.
