The Jackal and the Drum
Moral of the story – FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN BRINGS NO GAIN OR ONLY THE BRAVE SUCCEED IN LIFE.
In a deep jungle there lived a Jackal named Champu. He had not eaten for many days and was very hungry. His mind was restless and he thought to himself, “If I don’t find some food soon, I will die”. As he wandered through the forest in search of food he came upon an old battlefield. Suddenly he heard a loud sound, WHIR! WHIR! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
On hearing the noise, he thought it would be best to flee before he was attacked. But then the braver side of him came to surface. He decided that instead being a coward and running off, he would find out who was making that noise.
So he crept back, trying to be brave. To his astonishment Champu found that the noise came from a harmless old war drum. The low branches of a tree were swishing against it and making the noise. WHIR! WHIR! WHOOSH! WHOOSH! Near the drum there was plenty of food.
Champu was glad. He realized that he would have been a real fool if he’d have let a silly old war drum cheat him of all the delicious food! Champu sat behind the drum and enjoyed his food.
