How To Make Homemade Spring Roll Wrappers

Have you ever tried making spring roll wrappers at home? If not, here is your chance to learn how to make homemade spring roll wrappers or wonton wrappers and that too eggless. Just a few basic ingredients combined and kneaded together to prepare your very own homemade wrappers. They are super easy to make, healthy and vegan.

This recipe is adapted from allrecipes. I have used aquafaba as an egg replacer in this recipe. Few days back I had done a post on how to make homemade eggless mayonnaise using aquafaba and was totally yum!!

Now, let’s move on to the recipe. Combine all the ingredients and knead a soft pliable dough. Let the dough rest. This will relax the gluten (a protein that lends strength to flour) and help with the rolling process.

The key to a perfect wrapper is to roll the dough as thin as you can. All the hard work goes in rolling the dough – it requires some real muscle power. As you roll, the dough will shrink back. But no worries, keep rolling, dusting and flipping the dough with cornstarch all along. Use cornstarch to dust the dough not the regular dough, as cornstarch will coat the dough and will act as a barrier that will prevent it from sticking to the other sheets.

I have cut my wrappers in a 4×4 square but if a recipe calls for bigger sheets, cut them accordingly. If using them right away, let the wrappers air dry on the counter for 30 minutes and then shape them. Store in the freezer for future use – dust the sheets with cornstarch, place a sheet of wax paper in between the squares, stack and pack them in a ziploc bag. How To Make Homemade wonton Wrappers

I always have a bag of homemade wrappers in my freezer. When in need of a quick appetizer, take the wrappers out of the freezer, thaw them, prepare the stuffing and cook as you please. A crispy and delicious appetizer is ready in no time.

A versatile wrapper recipe that can be used in many ways – bake them (veg spring rolls), pan toast them (avocado rolls), or even fry them. Below is the baked wrapper pic. Fill them with healthy chickpea salad, avocado salad, Mexican stuffing, spicy paneer stuffing or simply make spring rolls. 🙂veggie-potstickers-recipe-11
