INGREDIENTS
  • MAWA LAYER
  • 2 cup Mawa
  • 3/4 cup Superfine Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Rose essence or Kewra essence
  • CHOCOLATE LAYER
  • 1.5 cup Mawa
  • 1/2 cup Superfine Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Unsweetened Chocolate powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Rose essence or Kewra essence
  • 1 teaspoon Ghee
  • INGREDIENTS FOR GARNISH
  • 3 tablespoon Crushed or chopped Pistachios
  • 2 tablespoon Silvered Almonds
  • 2 sheets Vegetarian silver sheets

METHOD
  1. For the mawa layer – assemble ingredients.
  2. Heat a heavy bottomed pan and add mawa.
  3. Add sugar.
  4. As the sugar starts to melt, stir it frequently until it becomes dry and forms a thick dough.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in rose essence and cardamom.
  6. Grease a tray or thali.
  7. Pour the mixture into the greased dish, cover and set it aside.
  8. Meanwhile heat 1 teaspoon ghee in a pan and add mawa.
  9. Add sugar and mix.
  10. Add coco powder, cardamom powder and mix.
  11. Cook until the mixture becomes dry and forms a thick dough.
  12. Pour over the mawa layer, generously sprinkle pistachios and silvered almonds on top. Cover and refrigerate to set.
  13. When its cooled and set, remove the tray from the refrigerator, cut into individual squares and enjoy!
