The King's Promise

Morale of the Story: " Always Keep your Promise "

The king and everybody in the palace liked sweets.The King's cooks made the best sweets. In a small village there lived a King in a grand palace. He lived with his queen and prince. He had many servants and cooks. The king and everybody in the palace liked sweets.The King's cooks made the best sweets.

Fragrance of the sweets spread in the palace. It also spread in the town. It pleased everybody. At the other end of the town there lived a rat named Bhasuraka. Fragrance of the sweets reached Bhasuraka's home and the rat enjoyed the fragrance.

Rat's attacked the dishes of sweets and they enjoyed a lot of fun in the palace.Bhasuraka's mouth, began to water. Bhasuraka, the rat had a big gang of relatives and friends. They all could smell the sweets. Bhasuraka, the rat followed the smell of the sweets. They rushed to the palace. They attacked the dishes of sweets and they enjoyed a lot of fun in the palace. The king saw this and got worried.He asked his servants to get rid of these rats.

The wise men thought of a wonderful plan. They advised : "Let us bring cats to drive away the rats!"The king ordered his servants to bring cats. The cats did a very good job. Soon all the rats ran away from the palace. Now the cats were the guests of the king, they sat on the king's seats. The king was not happy.

The cats made the palace dirty.Again the king called in his wise men. The dogs were brought in. They chased the cats. The cats fled away within a few minutes. The wise men advised : "Bring dogs to drive away the cats." The dogs were brought in. They chased the cats. The cats fled away within a few minutes.

Now the dogs enjoyed living in the palace. They ate sweets and made the whole palace dirty.King became very sad.

Again the wise men advised : "Bring tigers to drive away the dogs." Tigers were brought in. Tawny, with black stripes, Fierce and ferocious, they roared and ran after the dogs. The dogs were afraid and ran away.Now the tiger enjoyed living in the palace.
The lion drove tigers out of the palace. Now the kings of the forest became the kings of the palace.

After some days the king was again unhappy. The palace was full of bad smell of the tigers. Again the wise men advised : Bring lions to drive away the tigers."

Lions were brought in. They roared the tigers were afraid. The lion drove them out of the palace. Now the kings of the forest became the kings of the palace. The king was again miserable. The wise men thought and thought. "Now what to do?" The lion is the king of the forest.

Again Bhasuraka, the rat was invited. Bhasuraka said : "It is only our job. We can drive away the lions in the twinkle of any eye! But GIVE US A PROMISE."
The king said, "What?"
Bhasuraka said : "Then you should not call cats to drive us away."
The king laughed and said : "Agreed. IT IS MY PROMISE!"

The rats jumped on the lions when they were fast asleep. One nibbled a lion's hair. The other nibbled its mustaches.The rats jumped on the lions when they were fast asleep. One nibbled a lion's hair. The other nibbled its mustaches.The lion were puzzled and persuade! And they ran, and ran. The rats ran after them. Bhasuraka gave this news to the king. The king became very happy.

The king said : " Bhasuraka I thank you very much. You can stay in the palace."
Bhasuraka said : "Your majesty, we all thank you. We have enjoyed our stay at your palace." Now we go to our homes. You can call us whenever you need. We will come.

IT IS OUR PROMISE!"
