Washerman KrishanOnce there was a poor washer man named Krishan who had an old donkey. He did not give it any food. The donkey became thin and weak. The washer man had a wife and seven children.He said, "I am working hard. But I am not earning a lot of money. I can't feed my wife and children well. How can I feed this donkey?"

One day while coming from work Krishan saw a tiger-skin in the way. He thought, " I shall cover the donkey with the skin and drive it into the field and won't go near it.

Krishan disguising the donkey in the lion skinMy donkey can eat a lot and grow fat too."The next day he dressed the donkey in the tiger-skin and drove it into the field of crops.

The villagers saw the donkey in the tiger-skin. They thought that the tiger will kill us all and so they ran away.Many days passed. The donkey ate a lot of crop everyday, and grew stout and strong. Donkey started braying

One day when the washerman's donkey in the tiger-skin was in the field. Suddenly another donkey brayed ("Ee-Aw, Ee-Aw" ) from some places near the field. The washerman's donkey lifted up his head and brayed too.Hearing this the villagers got angry and went to the field with big sticks.

The angry farmers beat the donkey to death.In the morning when krishan arrived, he was shocked to see his beloved donkey dead on the ground.

Overcome with grief, he could not figure out what had happened. After giving the situation much thought, the reason occurred to him. He sadly shook his head and said, "I wish he had kept quiet."
